LO3 Survey results
The feedback from question one seems to say that they liked my colours however they are quite dark so maybe use of a lighter colour is in order.
The answers from the second question tells me that my ticket needs a lot of improvement, such as the composition needs to fit in more with the typical convention of a ticket (tear off bar code) and maybe reduction of colours.
From question three the answers seem to say that my logo is good and fits the genre, however that it could look smoother .
From question four the feedback seems to say that I should include a slogan however only if there is room in the design work for one.
The answers from question five advise me to leave my product with the juxtaposition it already has and that I shouldn't as onto it.

LO3 Pitch to Nick Bax Feedback
Nick Bax from Human Studios came in to hear our pitch ideas and afterwards gave us so constructive feedback.
http://www.humanstudio.com/
Feedback
Hosting a festival in Brooklyn Bridge Park is a very brave idea however as very good. The logo is very strong and is well put together. Hover maybe dull down the colours on the stripes so that the logo pops more. I like how you provided plenty of information into venues and you were clearly informed and made a good decision.
Overall I felt like the feedback given to my by Nick was positive.

LO2 Venues and Artists
Venues
Brooklyn- This is where Hip Hop music originated and became big. I thought it might make the festival better if the festival was held where it all started.
Brooklyn Bridge Park
Harlem- Harlem also had a huge impact on the Hip Hop scene and in this area both basketball and Hip Hop where combined.
Rucker Park
Rucker park is where the ABA basketball all started. Famous basketball players such as Dr.J (Julius Erving) and Wilt Chamberlain came from this court and during this time through the basketball scene the hip hop music genre was making itself popular.
London- Finsbury Park is a very large park in London, this park is host to festivals such as the wireless festival.
If my festival was held here then it could possibly help the future of the Hip Hop genre as it was target a wider audience and the expose from playing at Finsbury Park would help expose the artists music.
Manchester- Heaton Park is a great place to hold a festival as it is a huge open space which allows for more people to attend.
The reason for manchester as a loctaion is that the Grime sub genre of hip hop was hugely popular in manchesters youth.
LO2 Target Audience
Audience Profile
Hi my names Lucas, I am a 17 year old student of my local college and I live in a housing project in downtown London. I am part of a family of 6, my mother, my father and my three brothers. This makes my household a chaotic place. I listen to a lot of music, most of this music happens to be within the hip hop genre or close to it. This kind of music helps me to blank out and escape from this chaos. All of my friends listen to this music too and many of my friends make music within the hip hop genre, which is a good way for me to get involved in my passion of music.

Today I will be putting up all the work I have done onto my blog, finishing my drafts in photoshop, also finishing off my LO1 work

LO3 House style
This is the house style I have chosen. I think that these colours represent Hip-Hop in an urban way so the combination of these colours and a graffiti style logo is very effective as a hip hop festival brand identity.

Still needing to be finished is the presentation, target audience and my LO1 analysis s.

LO1 Analysis of an existing graphic design work: Leeds festival
a). The purpose of the flyer is to massively advertise the festival and its artists. The poster has the same purpose however has a longer lasting effect as once bought and displayed by a fan the poster will then go on to advertise wherever it was displayed. The keyring is a unique idea as its purpose is to advertise, so the idea that when these keyrings are given out and people put them on there keys the festival will then be able to advertise to a larger audience.
b). The format of the first piece is a poster, this is used to promote the event in a certain area. The second piece is a logo for the Leeds/Reading festival, this is used for everything related to the event. The third piece is a keyring sold and merchandise for the festival, often bought as momentos of the festival however the main use of these is advertisement.
C). The main piece of content on the poster is the lineup which is evidently the most eye catching aspect as the line up is able to take up almost the whole posters space. The second most eye catching aspect is the big logo that has been rotated and placed along the side to make more space for the line up, this denotes that the designer is purposly trying to divert attention to the line up. The sponsers of the festival have been shrunk down so that in comparison to the line up and logo seem extremely small, therefore making them less attention grabbing.
d).The styles of the pieces are very simple and modern which suits the Leeds and Reading festivals as there target audience are young adults who where born into the modernist generation.
e). The layout for the flyer is very clean and and organised as the logo has been placed down the side and then the line up has been organised into columns. This gives the layout of the flyer the appearance of neatness. This helps the reader with reading through the flyer as it is lay out in an easily readable format. The logo and keyring pieces have been lay out very simply with a logo over the relevent brand background.
f) the target audience for these pieces are people aged 17-26, either gender and of any ethnicity, but mainly English by culture.
g). Neither pieces break the Advertising Standards Authorities code of conduct as there advertising campaign does not cause any offense in any way, nor does it advertise, endorse or glorify alcohol in any way. The campaign does not exaggerate the product.
LO1 Analysis of an existing graphic design work: Park life
a). The purpose of the flyer is to advertise and promote the festival directly to its target audience. This also promote both the artists playing and the festival at the same time building a better reputation for the festival. The t shirt helps to advertise the festival indirectly as people buy them they then go on to wear them and inadvertently advertise for the festival.
b). The format of the first piece is merchandise specifically a t-shirt . The format of the second piece is a flyer.
c). The T shirt has only one piece of content, the logo, this denotes that the designers wanted to promote Parklife through clothing. The flyer has lots of contents. The main visual content is the logo of the Parklife event as it is the largest aspect of the flyer. This dennotes that the designer wants to promote the name of the event and make the festival larger within its target audience. The second piece of content that shouts promotion is the date and location of the festival, this denotes that the designer again were given a brief where the main focus is to advertise and promote the festival. A surprising aspect of the flyer is that the website for the ticket purchases is smaller than most of the other text on the flyer. This donates that the designers obviously did this so that the audience or reader of the flyer read the name of the event and the date first and connotes that this was done so that when read the audience can see the name and date to see if there interested then they might look for the website for tickets if they are interested.
d). The style of the T-shirt is very minimal as the only aspect of the T shirt is the logo. The flyers style is minimalist too, this was done to appeal to its target audience.
e). The Content on the first piece is centered onto the middle of the T shirt, it has also been enlarge to take up the majority of the front of the t shirt. The content on the second piece has been lay out to allow for space so that the vibrant background imagery can get through and attract people.
f). The target audience for this festivals graphic design work is most likely people of any gender, any ethnicity aged between 16 to 25. English by culture.
g). Neither of the pieces break any of the Advertising Standards Agencies code of conduct. There is no offensive content, no endorsement of alcohol or exaggeration about the products.
LO1 Analysis of an existing graphic design work: Docfest

b). The format of the first piece is a logo which is put on every docfest product. The second pieces format is a flyer which is handed out to people on the streets. The format of the third is merchandise that is sold at the festival.
c). There are lots of different parts of the content on both the flyer and the merchandise. The flyer has the logo in the top left corner. The designers did this so that the brand identity is clear. Next to this logo is the date. This has been designed in a way that grabs the audiences attention. The designer did this by adding a circle that encloses the date so that it is noticeable and sticks out from the other aspects of the design. The tag line is the largest on the flyer. The designer did this to attract attention but also this could have been done for the brand identity purposes. The logo on the merchandise and the flyers are tucked into the corner which is unusual as the logo is one of the biggest pats of a brands identity, however the designer could have done this to try divert the visitors attention to the more important date and website for the festival.
d. The style of this piece is a grungy indie style. This denotes that the designer obviously thinks that Sheffield has a indie/ grunge identity. This connotes that the city of Sheffield is is a very cultured city.
e. The layout of these peices is very compact and busy. However with the bag the layout is quite simple as the layout only includes the date, tagline and logo. This layout is quite counterproductive as this busy, compact layout makes it seem quite amateurish rather than professional.
f.The target audience for these pieces are people aged 16-25, any ethnicity and gender. This is because the bright colouring of the pieces denotes to a younger audience.
g. The pieces over all don't break any of the Advertising Standards Authorities codes of conduct however the tag line of the festival "More- Sex & Doc's & Rock 'n' Roll!" is sitting ver close to the line as it talks about controversial subjects that are referred to in the ASA's code of conduct. There is no breach of copyright as the pieces are all original pieces of work.

LO1 Analysis of an existing graphic design work: Tramlines Festival

a). The purpose of this Tramlines flyer is to advertise the Tramlines festival. This is because flyers are very common for festivals as they help to attract a large crowd. The designs purpose is to attract people with bright colours and an unforgettable colour scheme. The purpose of the logo is to become renowned and iconic and the purpose and the t shirts purpose is for free advertising.
b). The format of the flyer shows a clean, minimalistic design that connotes the modernism and trendiness of the festival. This format is a common format for festivals as they try to format there flyers around their young modern target audience, this connotes the importance of format to sales. The format of the t shirt is that the logo is in the center of the shirt, this makes it center of attention.
c). There is lots of contents on the flyer, the first being that there is the logo at the top, however the logo has been tucked out of the way into the top left corner. This connotes that the designers of the flyer obviously wanted its audience to look straight to the band and artist line up, rather that the logo and name of the festival. Another piece of content that is noticeable is the pricing. This is tucked into the corner but is also slightly larger that the majority of the print on the flyer. This could connotes that the designers want there audience to notice the price but not straight away, maybe as an after thought. However the two most eye catching and apparent pieces of content are the date, website and two major headliners. This is because the font size has been enlarged so that they are all the same size but a lot bigger than any other font on the page, this connotes that the designers want there audience to notice above all else the headliners, then the date and then the website in that order. This is so that there the audience look if they like the bands playing they immediately look at the date to see if they can make it and then they look for the website to see where to book there tickets. The t shirt contains one single design intended to be eye catching.
d). The style of the tramlines flyer is very modern and stylistic as it is has a basic layout on top of a flat red background with clean white and blue font and a few bits of tasteful graphics. This style directly denotes to the young target audience. The style of the t shirt seems to a baggy design which certainly denotes a style of youthful fashion.
e). The layout of the the flyer is very centered and straight in a way vary formal. This could connote to the designers wanting to aim for there target audience again. However this formalised layout is balanced out by the informal colour scheme.
f). The target audience for these pieces are students and young adults aging from 17-24, of any gender or any ethnicity. These would most likely be from from Sheffield or surrounding local areas.
g). None of the pieces break any of the Advertising Standards Agencies code of conduct as there is no offensive content, glorify alcohol or exaggerate the product in any way. The materials used to make both the flyer and the logo on the t shirt where copyright free and would have been created for the purpose of these products.
LO1 Analysis of an existing graphic design work: Boom Bap festival
a).The purpose the flyer is to advertise the festival and its artists to its target audience directly. The poster has the same purpose as both the flyer and the poster are wall art, however the people who buy the posters then go and advertise for the festival by displaying the posters in there places of residence.
b). The format of the first of these pieces is that it is a flyer, this is a piece of media that is handed out to people or different businesses to promote a festival. The second piece is formatted as a logo for the festival. This is a logo is the visual representation of the festival.
c The flyer has lots of different kinds of content on it. For example the date is at the top of the flyer which is what the viewer sees first on the page, this denotes that the producer wishes the viewer to see the date and then automatically think about if they could make that date or not. Another bit of content is the news section, this is placed conviently beneath the date, this denotes that the producer did this so that the viewer goes from the date of the festival to seeing the new and exciting news for instance on this flyer it says "New venue! New Date! New look!". Another section of content is the festival line up. This takes up most of the flyer, this denotes that the lineup is supposed to be the centre of attention. On the second piece the content is purely the logo, this logo is included on the flyer as it is the identity of the festival. This logo is there to be eye drawing and connotes that it wishes to be iconic.
d). The style of the first piece is very modern and simplistic. This style is iconic for the hip hop time that the festivals music is based from. This style is also very fashionable as it has a clean look to it.
e). The content on the pieces is lay out in a way that makes it seem spacious and casual. This lay out is very important for the flyer as it helps the viewer read through the flyer with ease. This layout also helps make the festival appear professional.
f) The target audience for these pieces is people of any gender, age 15-25, american by culture. These people are definitely fans of the hip hop genre.
g). Neither pieces break any of the Advertising Standards Authority's codes of conduct. The advertising campaign does not cause offense in any way, glorify alcohol or exaggerate the product. These pieces are mostly copyright claim free as the materials used will have been produced solely for the festival. However there is a logo that is next to the main title in the lineup, this logo is the branding for the world famous hip hop group Wu-Tang Clan, this is copyrighted by the group so or the festival to use it they would have had to get permission from them.
